Clean Water Act became law. Wash water produced at cleaning sites ranging from
factory floors to oil - stained parking lots requires preventative measures. The Environ-
mental Protection Agency, as well as many municipal, county, and state agencies that
regulate water quality, prohibit draining contaminated wash water into storm sewer sys-
tems. While discharge to the sanitary sewer may be allowed, certain criteria and ac-
ceptable levels must be met.
